Lowell Inhorn, MD, is recently retired after nearly 29 years of medical practice in Roanoke.  He was raised in Wisconsin and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1982, and completed an internal medicine residency at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology from Indiana University.

Lowell is an avid cyclist, a founding member of Roll Over Cancer, and a founding member, concertmaster and board member of Valley Chamber Orchestra.  As a Clinical Assistant Professor, he remains involved with the VTC School of Medicine in offering his time in teaching medical students.  He currently serves as a trustee on the Endowment Committee at his church.

​Lowell and his wife Cynthia Petzold support numerous other organizations, including United Way of Roanoke Valley, The Nature Conservancy, Doctors Without Borders, the Conquer Cancer Foundation, Pathfinders for Greenways,  Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Rails to Trails Conservancy, and others.
