Sonja A. Ingram

​Sonja Ingram is an archaeologist and a historic preservationist. She began working for Preservation Virginia in 2008 to assist individuals and organizations to preserve important historic sites across the Commonwealth. Among other duties, Sonja manages Preservation Virginia’s Most Endangered Historic Places list, and Preservation Virginia’s Rosenwald Schools Program and Tobacco Barns Program.
 
Before joining Preservation Virginia, Sonja was the Assistant Director for the Archaeological Conservancy’s Eastern Regional Office. She was also a historic preservation planner for Frederick City, Maryland; and worked as a land preservationist for Loudoun County and Frederick County, Maryland.  Her archaeological experience also includes working for the National Forestry Service, Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, and several cultural resource management firms in the southern United States, Mid-Atlantic, and Puerto Rico.
 
Sonja currently serves on several nonprofit advisory boards including the Southside African American Cemetery Preservation Society, Literacy Interactives, Inc., the Danville Historical Society.
